New Orleanes and Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina really pointed out the racial divide in New Orleans that was always there but never was really brought up and talked about. Katrina just threw the issue right out into national attention. Below is a movie one of my high school friends, Mishka, made. In his film, he points out the racial divide, yet I think one of the more important themes is it seems to say regular citizens can take action and make a difference.

He made his movie as a semi-finalist for a Doorpost film contest in 2008 for the word Hope. It's 14 minutes, a little long, but I think it makes a clear point and has a little twist at the end. So I hope you enjoy "The Heart of New Orleans."
